Your line of Stampers descend from John Stamper b. 1835-40 possibly England, lived and married Middlesex Co., VA. His children migrated on into Wilkes Co NC then later some went on to KY. My gggrandfather same line, Richard Stamper, came from Ashe Co, NC and into Garrard Co., KY during the Civil War as he was the lone Unionist with several brothers serving the South.

I have Isom's brothers as James B., Hiram H., John Whitt, Isaac D., and William Buckner. Hiram H. Stamper was in the 13th KY Cav., taken prisoner at Gladeville, VA in 1863. James B. was killed by Federal troops 30 Jan 1864. The detail was in a letter written by Daniel D. Hurst to William L. Hurst on 10 Feb 1864, as an eyewitness account. Hurst was with the federal troops. Besides the Stamper website, there was a book by Oliver Stamper called "Descendants of James Stamper 1750-1826 which gives a lot of information although some of his information went strictly by word of mouth.
