Woodward attacked Dover, TN in August, 1862. This is the forgotten first Battle of Dover. The more famous February, 1863 attack was by Forrest's Brigade which was well under-strength at only 800 or so men along with Wharton's Brigade and some of Wheeler's troopers.
Woodward was not with Forrest at Dover, in 1863. His reginment split off from that command after the West Tennessee raid of December, 1862.
