Have you seen their unit history by George D. Mosgrove? "Kentucky Cavaliers in Dixie," which was published in the 1950s (I believe), but has been reprinted.

It's a really good book - well written, with a lot of detail about campaigns, battles, and units that don't get covered much in the main histories.
