One U.S. War Department clerk worked with each roll. His signature appears at bottom of each card. I'd be a little surprised if he transcribed all notes on one line and not the one on the next, unless he couldn't read them. You could order a copy of the original roll for the company, regiment and date stated, or travel to Washington and make an appointment to read the record. If the roll is fragile or in poor condition, the National Archives will not endanger the document to make a copy.
