My ggreatgrandfathr Andrew Osborn wa with the 5th Ky Infantry,Co K, CSA and besides two roll call cards found at the Paintsville, Ky Library, I found on microfilm a "Reference Card" that had him listed as "Prisoner" and it was dated Jan 12, 1862. This was two days after The Battle of Middle Creek in which his regiment and company fought. The reference card said "See Manuscript No. 498 page ___. The library said they have no manuscript that this refers to. They checked with Frankfort and they knew nothing of a manuscript. Can anyone tell me about this manuscript? Although he is listed as prisoner o this "Reference Card" his next roll card lists him as deserted and one in September, 1862 lists him as joing from desertion. He was one of the men of the 5th that did not join until Deceber but when the majority of the 5th's 12 months were up i October, the December joining bunch went home too or joined other units. Andrew was killed in the raid on paintsville April 13, 1864 as a member of the 7th Battalion. he and his friend james Patterson were both killed there.
