New Orphan Brigade Exhibit

The Hardin County History Museum in Elizabethtown, KY, has opened a new exhibit titled "Our Alliances Are to the Confederacy." The exhibit gives information, photos, and artifacts highlighting Hardin County Confederate soldiers of the Kentucky "Orphan" Brigade and Morgan's Cavalry, and is a cooperative display between several museums and historical societies, to bring these artifacts together for the exhibit. Particularly interesting are the original wooden grave markers of Gen. Ben Hardin Helm (from when he was buried in Atlanta) and Cyrus Branham of the 6th Ky. Inf., from his original grave at Jonesboro, GA. Newly designed information panels give details on flags, uniforms, veterans, and soldier life in the Brigade.

The full exhibit will be up for about three months, with portions becoming a part of the permanent exhibit in the museum.
