Hackney's Station Hanging

Does anyone know where I might find some details of the series of events that resulted in the hanging of some 'rebels' in Hackney's Station?

Apparently CSA General E. Kirby Smith or some under his command killed a number of USA around Cumberland Ford, (now Pineville) in Knox (now Bell) county, including an officer named King.

A brother of King brought a unit from Crab Orchard to retrieve the bodies and in doing so, executed some 'rebel's around Hackney's Station, (now Calloway), in Rockcastle County.

This caused quite a commotion, even making the New York Times.

Anyone know where a more detailed account of this series of events might be found?

Thanks
