Action near McKee?

In OR-Series I,Vol.16, Page 953:Gen.George W.Morgan mentions that "Col.(T.T.)Garrard has fought and whipped the enemy near McKee today.", which would've been one day after Kirby Smith's victory at Richmond. I can't hardly believe that Garrard defeated any Confederate force so close to Kirby Smith's main force, in nearby Jackson County, and this is the first that I've ever heard of such a thing. Does anyone know anything about this? My family is from Jackson County and I've never heard anything about even a skirmish there, much less only one day after most of Nelson's Federal 'Army of Kentucky' had been practically annihilated near Richmond.
