Thanks Geoff, I am aware of that site. It deals very well with the KSG but it's the Enrolled Militia that I am interested in. A list produced by the Adjutant General for 1861 lists the county regiments and commanders - see the link below, they're on pp.43-4. It's these regiments that I am wondering if they had a numerical designation as well.
