I know this is a really old posting but my GGGGrandfather, James Robert Hodges, was in Forrest's unit (per his own testimony to family - and in fact, named his eldest son after General Forrest) and according to The Civil War website and my great uncle's research, JR (or Robert) Hodges was in the 2nd Regiment Kentucky Cavalry (Woodward's). My great uncle said that he was recruited in August 1861 in Garnetsville, Meade Co, KY by Capt. J.F. Overton for his company in Woodward's 2nd Reg't KY Cavalry. Per the advice of several members of this posting, I've requested his military records via History-Sites.com, so thank you for the referral. But I'm wondering if any of you have a list that you can verify the information I have about my ancestor and if you know how long it will take to get the report/paperwork from History-Sites.com? Thank you!
