One more thing, Woodward's 2nd KY Cavalry was part of a small brigade under his command (which included some Missouri cavalry and a Texas battery - if I have that right - going from memory) and by April, 1863 was operating along the Cumberland River west of Clarksville. He ambushed the river damaging some Union transports at Palmyra, TN and in response a Union Navy squadron attacked that town a couple days later and leveled it.
Woodward operated all over Middle Tennessee often getting credit for things he and his men never had anything to do with in Union reports. Too bad he left no official reports that can be found today in the Official Records as it would be nice to know from his side of things all that he did.
