Many men in Colonel Blanton Duncan's First Kentucky Infantry Regiment, later commanded by Colonel/General Thomas H. Taylor in October 1861, (assigned command of the First Kentucky by Special Order No.117.) after Col. Duncan resigned in July 1861, reenlisted - IN VIRGINIA - after their twelve month term of enlistment ended in May 1862, into Captain/Colonel Thomas G. Woodward's 2nd Regiment of Cavalry. Anyone who looks at the CMSR's at Fold3 of men in companies A (primarily) through Company D, of the 1st Ky C.S.A. will notice that dozens reenlisted while in Virginia into Thomas G. Woodward's 2nd Regiment of Cavalry.
