Bob Rosen's book is excellent. I'd also recommend Elliot Ashkenazi's "The Civil War Diary of Clara Solomon" and Ashkenazi's book on LA Jewish businesses in the mid-1800s. And next year the U. of Missouri Press will be coming out with a book on Louisiana Confederates that will contain an essay of mine on Louisiana Jewish Confederates.
