If the soldier had pay or bounty due him at his death, his estate would have received the money from the Confederate government. This was the case with several soldiers in Company H and G, 31st Louisiana Infantry. These records are part of the soldiers' compiled service records, but were not included in Booth's index. However, there were no pensions available for Confederate soldiers until the mid-to-late 1890s, and these were only for Confederate soldiers and their widows.
