Real Soldiers?

Assuming your critics follow their reasoning to its logical conclusion, I'd like to reserve a ring-side seat when they tell all the draftees from the Civil War through Vietnam that they don't count as real soldiers because they didn't volunteer. The second round will feature all the clerks, drivers, teamsters, medics, etc., who don't count as real soldiers because they didn't shoulder a musket or rifle. Ought to be an interesting fight.

Of course, they could throw in the towel and admit that anyone who wore the uniform was a real soldier, regardless of how he got there or what job he did.
