Jayhawkers

One of my too-many research projects involves Jayhawkers in Louisiana during the war. These were bands of Unionists, draft dodgers, deserters, and criminals who formed in several places in the state and resisted Confederate authorities. They were particularly active in the prairies and swamps of southwest Louisiana, in the pine hills of west central Louisiana (around Hineston), and around Catahoula Lake in northeast Louisiana. On several occasions, Confederate units moved into those areas and attacked the Jayhawkers. I've been through the "Official Records" volumes and most of the archival collections in Louisiana. I would be interested in hearing from anyone having information about the Jayhawkers (particularly from letters, diaries, memoirs, etc.).
