Hi Karen, I would like to learn more about Captain Roberts himself. As you can see we share the same surname and my Roberts ancestors are from Mississippi. My line goes back to Huguenot Pastor Rev. Pierre Robert who came to South Carolina around 1675 - 1676. His great-grandson Abraham Roberts II moved to Mississippi around 1808. He was a unique case. At age 14 he served in the French and Indian War under Col. Gabriel Powell. He served in the American Revolution under General Francis Marion and in 1812 served in the War of 1812 as a Captain in spite of his advanced age. He also helped found the Baptist church at Cheneyville. The family has a connection to General Leroy Stafford who is buried at Cheneyville. I know there are at least two lines of Roberts in Mississippi but I would like to swap genealogy notes with you, especially if you're line is from Rev. Pierre Robert.

All I know about the 7 Stars/Roberts Battery is what I have read by Dunbar Rowland.
