I am interested in finding info on the 2nd LA Cavalry. One of the popular genealogy sites lists my GG-grandmother's brother, Elijah Doss, as being a member of this unit. That site says his allegiance was Union. Was this a Union unit or was that information in error? I am trying to locate my GG-grandfather, who disappeared after the 1860 census. He was Caleb Estess. I have speculated that he may have entered the same unit as his brother-in-law, Elijah, since they both resided in Catahoula Parish, LA. I would appreciate any information on this.
