In Response To: Confederate Solider 8th LA ()

Max,

I havent found anything on Richard H. Humphreys yet but I will keep looking. I did however, find a Confederate Land Grant Application for a Benjamin Humphreys, but he was in Co. A, 8th LA. Cav. and was from Rapides Parish (part of which borders St Landry Parish. He contracted lumbago and rheumatism during the war.

There is also a Richard Humphries listed in Booth's Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers, but he was in the LA. Guard Artillery.

There is a Richard H. Humphries currently associated with the United Methodist Church in the Monroe area. You might wish to track him down and ask him if he is related to your Richard H. since they share the same name.

Only found one Mary J. Doyal listed but I dont think its the one you are looking for. You can view it at the bottom of http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/la/lasalle/biograph/jezell.txt
