Re: Wingfield's 3rd La. Cav. - additional info

My notes show that Scott was ordered to take the regiment with him when he left for northern Mississippi in January 1865. There is a document that shows the regimental headquarters at Georgetown, MS, on March 6, 1865. The letter of Stephen Ellis describing the engagement in Pickens County, AL, in April 1865 indicates that the regiment was still with the brigade. There is a letter in a pension file dated April 14, 1865, and putting the regiment in Green County, AL. Although some Union reports indicate that the regiment was back in the Florida Parishes at various times during March and April, I think they mistook detachments for the entire unit.

Correction: "three", not "there categories".
