My gt-gt-grandfather, too old to fight, moved to Jacksonville,TX, during the Civil War, in order to be further from the battles, I assume.
Why Jacksonville? Was this a place that many LA families chose to move to? I can find no evidence that he had family there, etc.
Has anyone written about LA residents taking refuge in TX?
