I have a copy of a letter written Sept 14, 1862 by my Great-Great Grandfather, M. Nelson. This letter ask for his wife to send him some clothes by the middle of the month and send them to nages & gibbs. Then later in the letter he ask her to send letters to: Lake Providence in care of H. Gibbs, B. _. Rangers, First Battalion.
Does anyone have any information on what was going on during that time in Lake Providence and Millikens Bend or know about this Battalion?
