James A. May - Marshall's Battery

I am looking for any information on the military record/history of James Alexander May who was a member of Marshall's Battery ( no other info. as to unit number, ordinal, etc). A private artillery soldier from North Carolina (I believe) who was a Prisoner of War in Shreveport, LA. (At history center, in records of LA Confederate Soldiers: Volume III Book I, Page 923) He was born in 1845 and died in Plains Dealing, Bossier Parrish, LA., March 2, 1881.

I am a novice and am attempting to find any information as to where he was born for sure and any information about his military career. If you have any resources that could help me, I am truly appreciative.

Please contact me at mjmay81@aggienetwok.com

Thanks,
Michael May
