I am researching Phillip Guier who was a Private in A Company, 31st Louisiana Infantry. He enlisted on April 12, 1862 in Monroe, La. His home was in West Carroll Parish. I have information that he died in May of 1863 and would like to verify that if possible and am also interested in the circumstances of his death, (did he die in battle?) I just don't know where to start. Any information would be very much appreciated.
