Booth's "Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers" shows J. A. C. Pino, Private, Company A, Miles' Louisiana Legion. Enlisted June 23, 1863, at Clinton, LA. He was present on a muster roll dated August 17, 1863. A muster roll for the period to December 31, 1863, shows him killed on December 6, 1863. From my research, I think that this was Cavalry Company A of Miles' Legion, Captain B. F. Bryan, rather than the infantry company. By December 1863, this company was a part of the 14th Confederate Cavalry Regiment. This regiment made up a part of a brigade commanded by Brig. Gen. Wirt W. Adams and participated in operations around Natchez, Miss., from December 1-10. Adams reported his brigade was engaged in a skirmish on December 7. His report is found in the "Official Records," Series 1, Volume 31, Part 1, pages 599-600. Pino could have been killed in this skirmish rather than on December 6.
