USCT-Corps D'Afrique

Hi All and my hat off to Mr Martin I have been wiating for this site for so long I am in search of information about a
ancestor. died in the Civil War and is buried at Chalmette.
His name was PVT Henry Veland member of company D 87regiment
US INF. He died from pneumonia at the Corps d' Afrique USA
general hospital 7-25-1864.I have written NARA,the Military
History Institute,also the site lest we forget.No one can give me any information. I have also read Dyer Compendium.My
ancestor is not mentioned any where.by name.But he is buried
at chalmette.Is there no records for this part of history?
were they destroyed? anyone with ideas please email me THX
