Hugh,

I saw some info on the internet a while back that I've wanted to ask about but refrained because it sounds like a possible urban legend.

The Encyclopedia Louisiana website has the below info posted on their Winn Parish page. I noted they state Winn Parish did secede. That tells me the website is prone to posting incorrect information. Old folks around our little town here in Evangeline Parish all swear Bonnie & Clyde used to hang out here but I've never seen any documentation or other tangible proof. Is the claim of Jesse & Frank James in north Louisiana more urban legend or is there some truth to it?

After the war bandits roamed the Natchez Trace that ran through the parish. Among the worst were the West and Kimbrill Clan whose membership briefly included Frank and Jesse James.
