Re: Port Hudson Confederate Dead

Barry,
If there are any marked, I do not know of them. I do know of one cemetery on the upper end of the Confederate lines that is 50-60 unmarked Confederates. Well, one grave was weapons. A university came in several years ago and dug 16 graves in the 2 cemeteries. (They are only about 100 feet apart, so I call them one) 8 graves were in what is the old town cemetery, the other 8 were in the Confederate section.
The university was to catalog ALL the items and return them to their rightful place, the cemetery, but the only thing that has been returned is the Confederate and Union soldier that was buried in the same grave. They are now in the State park there. I do know of one Confederate hospital ledger from the seige, that I am trying to get a copy of. So far, no luck.
