T. Mire, Thodile Mire, T.Mier, Co. G., 18th La.

I received the following message from a gentleman by the name of Matt Chancey, of Enterprise, AL.

---------------------Message received----------------------

My name is Matt Chancey and I live in Enterprise, AL, about 45 minutes from the Florida line on the east side of the state. I am writing to you because I have in my possession a VA marker for a T. Mier (spelled Mire on your muster roll). Pvt. Mire was a member of company G. His marker was found in
the woods belonging to a local resident here in Enterprise. Obviously, someone stole the marker a few years ago and dumped it in the woods.

As a member of the SCV, I would like to see Pvt. Mier's headstone returned to it's original resting place. However, we do not know where Pvt. Mier was buried. Could you assist us?

----------------Record of T. Mire---------------------------

Mire, T.,Pvt. Co. G, Consolidated 18th Regt. and Yellow Jacket Battn. La. Inf. Roll Jan. and Feb., 1864 (only Roll on file). En. July 21, 1862, Camp Pratt. Absent without leave since Oct.1, 1862, to Jan. 1, 1864. Joined from Desertion.

According to my records, on my 18th Louisiana Infantry Regiment website, the soldier mentioned above was married to a Mire, Adile CRADAS who filed a Confederate widow's pension application on behalf of Thodile Mire.

Anyone knowing the LOCATION of the gravesite of Thodile Mire -- please contact me so that I may pass on the location for the headstone to be returned to his final resting place.

Thank you.
