That's what I get for trying to remember things off the top of my head! You are correct. Bonner survived his illness. He became 1st Lieutenant of Company A, Consolidated Crescent Regiment, when that unit was formed in November 2, 1863. Upon the death of Captain Seth R. Field at the Battle of Mansfield on April 8, 1864, Bonner was promoted to captain and led his company until the end of the war.
