You will find historical information on the 8th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment in my book "Guide to Louisiana Confederate Military Units, 1861-1865" (LSU Press, 1989). To my knowledge, none of the companies of that regiment were nicknamed the Yellow Jackets. That nickname was used by the 10th Louisiana Infantry Battalion.
