Help! I just found out the following on my ancestor:

Hickey, Peter, Pvt. Co. B, 16th Battn. La. Inf. (Confederate Grds. Response Battn.). Roll for
March 10 to April 30, 1862 (only Roll on file), En. March 10, 1862, New Orleans. Present. Daily
duty as Battn. Baker from April 26, 1862.

As Civil War research is a whole new ball game to me, can anyone give me more insight into what my Peter Hickey did while serving. Where did the 16th battallion fight? Or did he see battle?

Any good links on this battallion that you can send me that I can do more research would greatly appreciated.
