I am looking forward to Terry’s new book on the 27th LA Inf. You all may also be interested in my book “The Defense of Vicksburg: A Louisiana Chronicle” (Texas A&M Press, 2004). While it follows most of the Louisiana units that were at Vicksburg, the 27th is the heart of the narrative. The book is an account, mostly in the form of first person narratives, of the LA soldiers who fought at Vicksburg. It starts with the units’ formations and follows them through Camp Moore and on to Vicksburg. I think you will find the daily accounts of each of the 47 days of the siege and the epilogue that explains what happens to these units from the fall of the city to the end of the war very interesting.

If I can help anyone with their research on these soldier, please let me know.
