FamilySearch.org shows...

John Defee
Born 1835 in Alabama
Residence: Union Parish, Louisiana
Spouse: Julia Annis Ward
Married: 1858, Union Parish, Louisiana

The only Defee listed in Wayne Cosby's Louisiana Confederate Soldier Burial Database is James W. Defee who served in Company C of the 12th Louisiana Infantry. (This Company was raised in Winn Parish). He is buried in Natchitoches Parish at Bethany Cemetery - located just off Hwy. 71 near the border with Red River Parish. Is this a relative?

I found no Louisiana Confederate Pension for John Defee or his widow. But... I did find this on the Texas Confederate Pension database. I find no soldier named Defee listed as having served from Texas so this may be your ancestor....

Defee, V. A. (Mrs)
Application #31976
County: Tarrant
Spouse: Defee, John McLemore

I highly suggest ordering his Texas Pension application. That should tell you at least when he died and possibly where as well. Let us know if you need help with this or simply use the link at the top of this page.
