Thanks for the clarification, Terry. I also want to point out that when the 31st Regiment camped near Milliken's Bend in August 1862 to unload the transport, many of the men were too sick to be present for duty. It seems that actual numbers are sketchy, but some sources suggest that less than half of the regiment was there.
