17th Louisiana, Co. H

I am looking for any info on the 17th LA, Company H (Harper's), in which my GGGrandfather supposedly served. The family legend is that he returned from Vicksburg (having been paroled?) and sat my GGGrandmother up on a stump at their home place near Spearsville in Union Parish, and told her he would have to go back. He was about 38 years old at the time, and had about 7 children. He then returned to the regiment, and subsequently died near Pineville at a place called Hot Wells in the Spring of 1865. This info comes from family anecdotes, and her Confederate Widow's Pension application. He does not appear in any of the rolls or rosters that I have been able to find online. The family name is quite frequently spelled various ways (Washam, Worsham, or Wisham being most common). Does anyone know anything about the what ultimately happened to Company H of the 17th, or if there was a hospital or cemetery at Hot Wells?
