The burning of Shreveport???
In Response To: Re: 17th Louisiana, Co. H ()

"Due to the burning of Shreveport by Confederate officials prior to the of the Trans-Mississippi Dept at the end of the war, all muster rolls, returns, and enlistment records after July 1863 do not exist."

I've heard of the burning of Alexandria and Simmesport and a few other towns in Louisiana by the Yankees, but this is the first I've ever heard of Shreveport being burned, or of any town in La. being burned by Confederates. Can you give us more details on this incident?
