Assuming that his parole record is correct, he might have served in the 5th Louisiana Battery (AKA Pelican Artillery), then commanded by Captain B. Felix Winchester. This company was originally recruited in St. James Parish and might have picked up recruits from other river parishes as the war progressed. The battery was a part of Squires's Battalion at the end of the war.
