The Yankees that could be located would have been moved to a National Cemetery after the war. The Confederates would definitely NOT have been moved to a National Cemetery, and would probably still be buried somewhere near the battlefield, possibly in a local churchyard, but not necessarily. But you needn't look for a Confederate colonel at Port Hudson National Cemetery.
