Re: 14th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment

Rick. You are correct in my citing the 14th La Cavalry. I should have said 14th Confederate Cavalry composed of both
Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas units. They were under the command of BG Wirt Adams and participated in operations around Natchez, Ms from Dec-1-10. Adams reported that his brigade was engaged in a skirmish on Dec 7. At this time Co A Miles Legion was a part of the 14th Confederate Cavalry and was the unit to which my greatgrandfather was assigned. A muster roll shows him killed on Dec 6. Records in the Diocese of Baton Rouge show him killed in Mississippi.I am still trying to find out where he might be buried. So there was apparently more that one Louisiana company in the 14th. Wirt Adams report in in the OR's Series 1, Vol 31 pages599-600. Thanks for your interest
