I am researching a skirmish which occurred on April 6, 1865, in Pleasant Ridge, Greene County, Alabama, my childhood home. The CSA forces of Brig Gen Wirt Adams, including Scott's Louisiana Cavalry Brigade, met the rear guard of Brig Gen John T. Croxton just across Sipsey Mills Bridge. The 6th Kentucky Cavalry was routed by the initial attack, including the loss of its Commanding Officer. The Federals retreated north toward Tuscaloosa, from whence they had ventured south two days before. A running skirmish in a heavy downpour lasted until 8 o'clock that night when the 2nd Michigan Cav delivered a frighteningly heavy volley from their Spencer carbines from the brow of a hill.
I am interested in any information in Scott's Brigade, including regiments therein and information regarding actions, casualties, etc., on April 6, 1865. Any help will be appreciated.
