(It's P.J.)I am investigating the History of Harrisonburg. There is not much information located in the town library. The two books that I have found at our local library do not conincide, the dates differ from one to another... The information that differs is the most important information.
Do you know of anyone else in town that may have exact, true dates??

Established: 1808
Incorporated: 1836 Inc. as a Village 1872
Settled: 1872

People would argue that the Settlement date was in the 1700's. Could you tell me where I may find more info. I am in the process of tracking down Jackie Owens.

Fort was built in 1863 to prevent federal gun boats from going up the Ouachita River.

Sargeant House in 1902 used as Hotel and residence, holes remain from Civil War battle when aimed at fort.

Radford House in 1818, no longer standing????
