According to the original record book, the 26th was at that camp during July of 1864. My great great grandfather was killed there "by accident" on July 22. Nothing in his service record from the National Archives. I sent a request to the Tx Civil War Round Table but the letter was returned. Invalid address. Guess they don't exist anymore.
After the Red River Campaign the 26th returned to Tejas and was disbanded in 1865, rather than surrender.
