I checked the Alexandria National Cemetery listing for both Magee and McGee and he is not listed there. Same results for Vicksburg National Cemetery, Natchez National Cemetery and Chalmette National Cemetery.

The unit history at CWS&SS shows this...

..."Expedition to Ponchatoula March 21-30, 1863 (Detachment). Capture of Ponchatoula March 24 (Detachment). Action at Chackahoola Station, La., June 24 (Cos. "C," "E," "G," "I" and "K")."

That at least gives you an idea of where to possibly look. One thing you may want to consider is this note from the unit's history...

"Regiment lost during service 10 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 3 Officers and 240 Enlisted men by disease. Total 253"

You need to find out if he was in a hospital prior to passing. His Compiled Service Record may provide that information. Let us know if you need help in getting these records.
