Most likely your soldier is buried at Chalmette National Cemetery in New Orleans. The cemetery's listings show mumerous burials for the 9th Connecticut. The cemetery was established in May of 1864 and many soldiers who were originally buried elsewhere were moved there after the war. Most of the 9th Conn. soldiers were originally buried at Cypress Grove Cemetery, which is also located in New Orleans. 7,000 of the 12,000 union burials at Chalmette are unknown. Your soldier could be one of the unknown.
