I saw your post and thought you might be able to help me with a few questions that I have. I am manager of Magnolia Springs State Park in Millen, GA, which during the Civil War was Camp Lawton prison.
We know that Col. Forno was ordered to Camp Lawton to command the guard but some historians doubt that he was every actually present here. I know that he replaced Gen. Winder as commissary of prisoners several months after Camp Lawton's evacuation.
Any light you could shed on this would be much appreciated.
