George,
The Cypress Grove Cemetery that I am referring to is very much in existence. If you leave the interstate and take the City Park Ave. exit, you cannot miss it. Standing just inside the fence line and very visible from the street are two highly elevated markers of a Fireman and a deer, as well as an iron fence that reads, "Cypress Grove." As a matter of fact, we had a case back in the 90's where a vandal knocked the head of the Fireman marker and stole it, though it was later recovered and replaced. If you go to the intersection of City Park and Canal, you cannot miss the cemetery.

The Girod St. Cemetery was dismantled to make way for the Superdome when it was being built, and the graves that were unable to be relocated were paved over. (Girod runs behind the Dome if you exit from Poydras.) Is this maybe the one you are thinking of?
