The Fire Brigade, along with all other Confederate militia units in New Orleans, disbanded when Union forces captured the city on May 1, 1862. Unless Harry Copp James appears on the roster of a regular Confederate unit after that date, you can assume that he returned to his civilian occupation in New Orleans.
