mark, the word ecore comes from the french settlers that founded natchitoches in 1714. it is the oldest settlement in the louisiana purchase. i lived in natchitoches for many years. also natchitoches comes from the indian who settled there well before the french. his name was nakatosh. hope this helps a little more.
