Thanks Gator. It is amazing what a person can discover by seeking just for the origin of just one word. I have been finding some very interesting websites about the early Natchitoches area history while Googling for "ecore". And I have been learning the difference beween Cajun and Creole which I never had learned much about before (except maybe on cooking shows).

Anyway that is what makes history so fascinating, one little thing leads to another discovery to another to another. I have enjoyed reading about your old Louisiana history very much this week. I'd love to come see the area in person now sometime.

The French must have stopped using the word "ecore" in their own language but it has remained alive as part of the landscape in America.
